Finding a Quality Cheap Dental Plan
Full blown dental insurance is often not necessary for certain individuals. If you are between the ages of twenty and forty five, and are currently living with good dental health, traditional dental insurance could be an unnecessary expense for you because there is another option open to you. There are discounted dental plans out there that will cost you very little out of pocket but will greatly reduce the cost of any dental procedures you may have to have performed. These discount plans are all over the place and finding a quality yet cheap dental plan can be a little tough. Below is a list of the three features you should ensure the discount dental plan you choose has.
1) Large list of participating dentists. Not only is having a lot of choices in which dentist to visit convenient, it also shows you that the plan itself is a good one. Reputable dentists will only participate in reputable plans and you can rest assured that a plan is of high quality if there are a lot of dentists within the network.
2) Good percentage discounts. Look for a plan that offers you discounts as high as 70% off the regular price and no lower than 40% off for any procedure that is not considered cosmetic. Rarely, if ever, will cosmetic dentistry procedures like veneers or teeth whitening be included on any dental plan.
3) Look for annual fees versus monthly fees. Usually if a plan charges you a monthly fee, it works out to be more expensive than those that charge annually. When reviewing the amount of the membership fee keep in mind that there are quality plans in most states that cost less than $80 a year. In some states, there are plans that run as little as $20 annually. Don't overpay.
